Video
Convert MP4 to MOV on your Mac.
Some editing workflows, templates and older Apple software expect .mov files. Clementine converts MP4, WebM, AVI and more to a clean H.264 MOV.
Or with Homebrew: brew install --cask kapyar/tap/clementine
Your files never leave your Mac unless you share them.
How it works
Drag your video
From Finder, the Desktop, Mail or a browser — anywhere you can drag a file.
Tap ⇧, drop on MOV
Hold Shift (⇧) while dragging and a wheel appears around your pointer. Drop on MOV.
Done
You get an H.264 MOV. The original is never changed.
Why Clementine
Raw footage and client edits never leave your Mac — Clementine converts locally with no size limit.
- Standard H.264 video with AAC audio
- Works for MP4, WebM, MKV, AVI and WMV sources
- Skipped automatically if the file is already an H.264 MOV
- Runs on your Mac — nothing is uploaded
MOV Saves a copy as MOV next to the original. The original stays as it is.
This is the wheel you’ll see. Point at other petals to see what else the file can do.
Questions
Is MOV better than MP4?
Not for quality — both can hold the same H.264 video. MOV is QuickTime’s own container and some Apple-centric tools prefer it.
Will Final Cut or iMovie accept it?
Yes, H.264 MOV imports into both.
