Convert Excel to CSV on your Mac.

Imports, databases and scripts want plain CSV. Clementine converts .xlsx to CSV from Finder, even if you don’t have Excel installed.

Or with Homebrew: brew install --cask kapyar/tap/clementine

Your files never leave your Mac unless you share them.

How it works

  1. Drag your Excel files

From Finder, the Desktop, Mail or a browser — anywhere you can drag a file.

  2. Tap ⇧, drop on CSV

Hold Shift (⇧) while dragging and a wheel appears around your pointer. Drop on CSV.

  3. Done

You get CSV files ready to import. The original is never changed.

Why Clementine

Spreadsheets full of names, numbers and salaries never leave your Mac.

  • No Excel or Numbers needed
  • UTF-8 output that imports cleanly
  • JSON and TSV are on the same wheel
  • Runs on your Mac — nothing is uploaded

CSV Saves a copy as CSV next to the original. The original stays as it is.

This is the wheel you’ll see. Point at other petals to see what else the file can do.

Questions

What about workbooks with several sheets?

CSV holds a single table, so the first sheet is converted.

Can I get JSON instead?

Yes — drop the file on JSON for an array of rows keyed by the header.

175 tools. One gesture.
