Video

Convert WMV to MP4 on your Mac.

WMV is Windows Media Video — common in old presentations, webinars and archives, unplayable in QuickTime. One drop turns it into an MP4 any Mac or phone plays.

Or with Homebrew: brew install --cask kapyar/tap/clementine

Your files never leave your Mac unless you share them.

How it works

  1. Drag your WMV files

From Finder, the Desktop, Mail or a browser — anywhere you can drag a file.

  2. Tap ⇧, drop on MP4

Hold Shift (⇧) while dragging and a wheel appears around your pointer. Drop on MP4.

  3. Done

You get MP4 versions next to them. The original is never changed.

Why Clementine

Company webinars and recorded meetings stay on your Mac while they’re converted — no upload to a third-party service.

  • No player plug-ins to install
  • Sound comes along as AAC
  • Works through a whole archive folder at once
  • Runs on your Mac — nothing is uploaded

MP4 Saves a copy as MP4 next to the original. The original stays as it is.

This is the wheel you’ll see. Point at other petals to see what else the file can do.

Questions

Can Clementine make WMV too?

Yes — if a Windows colleague needs one, drop an MP4 on WMV on the same wheel.

Does it work with DRM-protected WMV?

No. Copy-protected files can’t be converted by any tool.

175 tools. One gesture.
