Audio

Convert WMA to MP3 on your Mac.

Old ripped CDs and Windows-era recordings are often WMA — Apple Music won’t touch them. Convert the whole folder to MP3 and bring that music back.

Or with Homebrew: brew install --cask kapyar/tap/clementine

Your files never leave your Mac unless you share them.

How it works

  1. Drag your WMA files

From Finder, the Desktop, Mail or a browser — anywhere you can drag a file.

  2. Tap ⇧, drop on MP3

Hold Shift (⇧) while dragging and a wheel appears around your pointer. Drop on MP3.

  3. Done

You get MP3s for Apple Music. The original is never changed.

Why Clementine

Your old library is converted entirely on your Mac — no plug-ins, no uploads.

  • Imports into Apple Music and syncs to iPhone
  • Song titles and artists are carried over
  • Handles hundreds of tracks in one drop
  • Runs on your Mac — nothing is uploaded

MP3 Saves a copy as MP3 next to the original. The original stays as it is.

This is the wheel you’ll see. Point at other petals to see what else the file can do.

Questions

Do protected WMA files work?
