Audio
Convert MP3 to WAV on your Mac.
Samplers, broadcast systems, CD burners and some editors want plain WAV. Clementine decodes your MP3s into standard 16-bit WAV files.
Or with Homebrew: brew install --cask kapyar/tap/clementine
Your files never leave your Mac unless you share them.
How it works
Drag your MP3 files
From Finder, the Desktop, Mail or a browser — anywhere you can drag a file.
Tap ⇧, drop on WAV
Hold Shift (⇧) while dragging and a wheel appears around your pointer. Drop on WAV.
Done
You get 16-bit PCM WAV files. The original is never changed.
Why Clementine
Audio projects stay on your Mac from start to finish; nothing is sent to an online converter.
- Standard 16-bit PCM — opens in every audio app
- Keeps the original sample rate and channels
- Converts a whole playlist folder at once
- Runs on your Mac — nothing is uploaded
WAV Saves a copy as WAV next to the original. The original stays as it is.
This is the wheel you’ll see. Point at other petals to see what else the file can do.
Questions
Will WAV sound better than the MP3?
No — it can’t bring back what MP3 removed. It just stores the same sound uncompressed, which some software requires.
Why is the WAV ten times bigger?
WAV stores every sample without compression, about 10 MB per minute of stereo audio.
